31 March- Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis

Throughout history, Armenians committed terrible massacres against our compatriots in different regions of Azerbaijan with the aim of establishing an Armenian state in our lands based on their insidious policy. Armenians living with the dream of "Great Armenia" committed the first massacre of the 20th century against Azerbaijanis in 1905-1907.
When talking about the genocide against Azerbaijanis, it is mostly about the massacres committed by Armenian military forces in March 1918 in Baku and other regions of our country.
Thus, from March 30 to April 3, 1918, in Baku city and in various regions of Baku governorate, as well as in Karabakh, Nakhchivan, Shamakhi, Guba, Khachmaz, Lankaran, Salyan, Zangazur, and other areas, the troops of the Baku Soviet and Dashnak Armenian armed groups attacked the Azerbaijanis. According to official sources, tens of thousands of our compatriots were killed because of their ethnic and religious affiliation, and settlements, historical monuments, mosques, and cemeteries were destroyed.
Thousands of innocent Azerbaijanis were brutally murdered, their houses were burned, and their properties were looted as a result of the Armenians' intermittent, deliberate, and planned genocidal policy.
According to official sources, as a result of this genocide, about 12 thousand Azerbaijanis were mercilessly killed and tens of thousands of people went missing.
31 March 1918 was declared the Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis by the Decree "On the Genocide of Azerbaijanis" signed by Heydar Aliyev on March 26, 1998, which is of great historical importance.
