Azerbaijan State Scientific-Research Institute of Labor Protection and Safety Engineering

Baku Scientific-Research Institute was established in 1928 to ensure technical safety in industry.
The institute began its development by specializing in labor protection and safety engineering starting from that period. This institute with almost 100 years of history, formerly called the All-Union Petroleum Scientific-Research Technical Institute of Safety, has gained fame on an all-Union scale and has been dealing with production safety issues for many years.

The State Agency for Safe Working in Industry and Mountain-Mine Control, which is a part of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, established by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dated December 16, 2005, and the Azerbaijan State Scientific-Research Institute of Labor Protection and Safety Engineering were included in the structure of the Ministry.
Currently, professional specialists in technical safety and labor protection work in the institute. More than 650 technical normative documents have been prepared and put into use by them.
In order to apply technical safety measures in production areas, 58 types of training are regularly conducted at the institute.
At the same time, there is a specially prepared training ground on the basis of the institute for conducting practical training. Here, the participants of the training were taught "Safety of work at height", "Providing first aid", "Cable access system", "Crane operators", "Elevator electromechanics", "Forklift operator", "Welder", "Safe installation and dismantling of rebar" and so on. practical trainings are held in the fields.
After completing the training courses, an exam is held in accordance with the requirements of the educational program, and depending on the result, the participants of the training are given an appropriate document.
Azerbaijan State Scientific-Research Institute of Labor Protection and Safety Engineering was awarded ISO 9001 Quality management system, ISO 14001 Environmental protection management system and ISO 45001 Health protection, labor safety management system certificates. In 2022, the institute was accredited in accordance with the AZS ISO-17020-2008 "General criteria for the operation of various types of inspection bodies" standard.
Azerbaijan State Scientific-Research Institute of Labor Protection and Safety Engineering has established its activities mainly in the following directions:
1. Project documents of industry, mining and other service areas, technical safety expertise of equipment and technical devices used in potentially dangerous facilities, safety declarations and technical safety declarations;
2. Preparation of normative technical acts, including rules, methodical documents, instructions, documents related to industrial sanitation and hygiene and conducting scientific-research works on ensuring technical safety and labor protection in industrial and mining areas;
3. Non-destructive testing of various types of drills (drilling, operating, telescopic, dor);
4. Non-destructive diagnostic work on technical devices and equipment used in potentially dangerous facilities (magnetic powder method, ultrasound method, penetrant liquid method and visual control method);
5. Washing and degassing of vehicles carrying dangerous goods;
6. Technical inspection of vehicles carrying dangerous goods, technological and other mechanical vehicles;
7. Organization of training on labor protection and safety standards and regulations for specialists and workers at potentially dangerous facilities and mining areas;
8. Restoration of passports and operating instructions of facilities and equipment operated in potentially dangerous facilities;
9. Measurement of harmful production factors and attestation of workplaces;
10. Providing technical assistance in processing safety declarations (hydrotechnical installations) and technical safety declarations (onshore)
